Project Management in Okakarara
Dr. Michael Hoppe has the position of General Manager and is responsible for administration, finances and human resources. He is disciplinary superior of all employees in Okakarara and oversees the correct bookkeeping and the end-of-year balance through an external accountant. He is in Okakarara several times a year and communicates regularly with the Local Management.
The local management is coordinated by Sonja Schneider-Waterberg (formerly Klose). She also keeps regular contact with the colleagues in Germany.
The German secondary school teacher had already helped the initiator with translations and other preparations for the project in Hamburg when she came to Okakarara in the summer of 2006. She spent a sabbatical there and became a valuable help within the project and a mediator between the cultures. In August 2007 she extended her contract. Sonja has become the contact person for all employees, volunteers and visitors and is responsible for bookkeeping, reporting and is involved in the training of the preschool teachers.
Since 2011 Catlain "Katjotjo" Kangumine is assisting Sonja in all matters concerning the project in Okakarara.
