HIV / Aids Counselling

Although there is enough room for HIV/Aids counselling in the Okakarara State Hospital profound counselling can hardly take place due to lack of funds to pay a social worker and also due to many people’s fear that a positive test result will not be kept private.

It is our plan to set up a house on the new plot and to start counselling together with the community. A possible partner in this could be an organisation called “New Start” who already have a lot of experience in dealing with HIV/Aids. Here a quick test in order to establish a person’s HIV status as well as counselling of people infected with the virus and their relatives will take place. Additionally we want to offer help to relatives of deceased people.
