Ambassadors
Andreas Thümmler has been an early supporter and fund- raiser for steps for children since 2006. He supported Dr. Hoppe's effort in building up the foundation and has led several well known internet founders to steps for children's first location in Okakahara, Namibia and acquired them as significant donors and supporters. Andreas' network is particularly strong in the German speaking regions. His firm Corporate Finance Partners also hosts and sponsors the steps for children office in hamburg since april 2010. |
Foto: Madeleine Wittgestein | ‘Some of my family has lived in Windhoek, Namibia and I have myself been much attached to Africa for many years. This country has inspired me a lot. I have even painted a picture named “My dream of Africa” says Sandra Völker – Germany’s most successful swimmer. This is why I am concerned about doing something for the children in Africa; besides my own foundation for children suffering from asthma and allergies. But I never knew quite how, until I met Michael Hoppe personally. I then spontaneously promised my support. And I hope to help him put his vision of the 100 projects into practice.” |
“I support Steps for Children, because it is important to give a meaningful perspective to people, especially the youth in disadvantaged areas/countries. It is about building something together that they can be proud of. Something that – ideally – can feed them as well and makes a base for an independent life.” Dirk von Zitzewitz is the Dakar winner 2009 and won the German Enduro champion 15 times. He’s engaging himself as professional co-pilot (in the team of Volkswagen Motorsport at the moment). He is also organising motorbike trainings and desert adventure trips, preferably in Africa. |
| Dr. Hans Christian und Sabine Schröder are supporting steps for children for years already: in their children’s former school (the grammar school in the Willmsstraße in Delmenhorst) they keep on giving talks about our project, they are organizing Christmas bazaars together with the pupils there, they are arranging benefit concerts with their Rotary club every once in a while or – as in 2010 – they are making an application with Rotary International in cooperation with Rotary in Otjiwarongo for the support of school buildings, especially the sanitary section. On many occasions they are selling bags, aprons and pillow cases that have been made in the sewing room in Okakarara. |
