Hamburg, August 28, 2023
,
there is a lot going on at steps for children in Namibia - and there were just holidays there! Nevertheless, a lot has happened in the Namibian winter.
For example, we can report on team workshops in Gobabis and Okakarara. In Zimbabwe we are looking at the successes we have achieved and are campaigning against child marriage with a new project. Besides that we would like to recommend the upcoming steps event to you.

STEPS IN NAMIBIA

We train and invest in team building

The Namibian winter months could be used for workshops and team building activities at some steps locations. Project managers and employees networked with each other and organized a joint meeting at the founding location.

Promote sustainably - steps students

Guardian angel teacher Manfred Haoseb from Gobabis teaches his protégés with a lot of creativity. He encourages them to study for school and stay with it, he takes care of them when questions arise or when they need help. Thank you Manfred!
The older steps guardian angel children need new school backpacks.
There are no cupboards or hooks in the schools to store school bags, so they lie on the dusty concrete floor or in the sand and break very quickly.
A total of 54 pieces are required.
A school backpack costs €25

The blankets have arrived - THANK YOU!

We thank you very much for the warm winter blankets that have arrived at the children and keep them warm. So the Namibian winter nights, which sometimes reached -8 degrees, could be spent warm.

Protect girls from child marriage

©Plan International and Stiftung Hilfe mit Plan

In June 2023 we renewed our commitment in Zimbabwe and support a project to empower girls! This time the project is located inland, in Kwekwe. With access to Education and professional future opportunities strengthen we the independence and self-confidence of young girls and
Women. With educational work and prevention of violence, we demand that the adults in the community take responsibility, protect children's rights and not accept sexual abuse.
According to the UNICEF report, the area of the Midlands Province, in which the project region Kwekwe is located, takes fifth place in the frequency of child marriages - in this region 31 percent of girls married before the age of 18.
Unimaginable - we think. That's why we're working together with Plan International and the Hilfe mit Plan foundation to stop child marriage!

450 € is the cost of one awareness campaign
to child marriage and early pregnancy
With which programs do we do this and with whom do we work together?
