Volunteering is a valuable and indispensable part of our work. Participating in Germany means actively contributing to the successful development of our projects and supporting the sustainable development of children and young people affected by poverty and HIV/AIDS in Namibia.
Regardless of whether you want to volunteer nationwide or do voluntary work in Hamburg – with the steps for children foundation you are committed to fairer educational opportunities worldwide and building bridges between cultures. We place great value on collaborative partnerships that build on the strengths of our volunteers. Your tasks will be carried out independently and on your own responsibility in coordination with our foundation team. Choose one of the options to get involved in our work! Depending on your experience, skills, personal needs and where you live, we will work together to find suitable roles for you. Own fundraiser
Your own small fundraiser works: make a sensible gift and enable education together with your happy birthday children and adolescents in Namibia. For example, you can help a school class make the first trip of a lifetime, sponsor a guardian angel child, or secure a steps homes family for a whole year.
Engagement as a School
Organize a fundraising event as a school - for example a charity run! We have put together a material box for you that you can easily download.
Help without additional costs – with WeCanHelp!
Are you interested in a trip, planning an overnight stay or would you like to buy something, for example from Amazon, Booking or Deutsche Bahn? Then support steps for children at the same time! For every purchase and booking via this platform, steps for children receives a small percentage as a donation. This is an easy way to help at no extra cost.

Set up the donation box
It is possible to set up donation boxes almost everywhere: whether you ask the favorite clothes shop around the corner that is currently supporting a social project or the small restaurant across the street that always cooks so well. Or do you have a small shop yourself?
Making space with heart
Send your clothes to “Make room with heart” and support a great cause at the same time! By voting for steps for children, you help needy children in our education center okakarara:

The favorite supermarket near your work doesn't have a deposit box for a good cause yet? Then ask there if the empties vouchers could benefit steps for children and we can set up a nice little homemade box there. We would be happy to support you with this project!

Run for steps
A donation run is a sporting challenge for the students, promotes their health and at the same time helps children in Namibia. For every kilometer run, a sponsor makes a donation as a motivating incentive.
Festivals and bazaars
Through a joint cooking or baking campaign, the students get to know new recipes and at the same time can sell their delicious results at a summer party, Christmas bazaar or flea market for donations. This enables the feeding of AIDS orphans in our projects.
Handicrafts and building
Art classes are ideal for designing pictures and models that are auctioned off in favor of steps. On the one hand, the pupils learn how an auction works, on the other hand, winning the small campaign turns them into steps - because this is used to finance school supplies.

Build empties receipt box
In the craft class, a box for empty vouchers can be built yourself, which is then hung in a shop of your choice. Optionally, you can also decorate a mailbox in art classes. The pupils are given the responsibility to check and empty the box at regular intervals.
Make an image film with Video AG
Make a short film about steps with your friends. Visit, for example, one of our information stands and ask for existing video material from the projects. Find a main topic that the film should cover, for example, pre-school or afternoon care.
Short film about the campaign with the school
Report and show the commitment of your school in a short film: what actions have you taken so far, how did you get the idea? Do an interview with the initiators or film during the action. Your creativity knows no bounds.
Project week
What does steps for children do? Why do we get involved in Namibia? How did we get started? Who founded us? How many projects do we have in Namibia? There is a lot to research and explore. Dedicate a project day or a project week to the children and young people, in which they learn about life in Namibia and our aid projects. At the end of the session you can tell others about it in a nice presentation and start a run or other action in favor of steps.
The sensible gift
The inauguration party is just around the corner, a new person has been born, the wedding or company anniversary are being celebrated? We are happy to issue a certificate and the purpose of the donation for each occasion.
Become a guardian angel
Sponsoring a Guardian Angel Child * is the best way to give children from the poorest backgrounds in Namibia a solid educational career. With your contribution, you will finance basic education up to the 8th grade: school uniform, materials such as pens and books, hot meals five days a week and caring support in the project are guaranteed.
