The 4th grades worked hard - in October they worked for steps for children for the second time and, with dedication and sporty power, earned a 4-digit amount. With the amount the 4th grade of the school in the garden city will take on guardian angel sponsorships and thus actively campaign for more educational opportunities and future prospects for children and young people in Namibia.
The initiative of the pupils' commitment came about in the 1st grade by Sabine Bohlen-Roß, who always enthusiastically told "her" classes about steps and their effect, reported on her advanced training with the teachers in Okakarara and she with it under her spell. It quickly became clear to the children and parents that you cannot start young enough to get involved with other people. So they collected fruit and were already making jam four years ago to sell at the Christmas bazaar and use the proceeds to become guardian angels. In the second grade, too, they were able to earn proceeds from home-baked biscuits at the bazaar and take on a sponsorship for another year.
After the run, Michael Hoppe personally presented our projects in Namibia to the students and some teachers. With some real-life questions, the children were happy to consider why homeschooling was hardly possible in Namibia during the lockdown in order to better understand the local children’s life situation. Together with the former class teacher Sabine Bohlen-Roß and the current class teacher Marcus Fink, they were able to get to the bottom of all the questions. A short film in between rounded off the little information lecture.
On behalf of all Guardian Angel children from Okakarara, we thank you very much for your commitment and admire your commitment.
