The jury considers the project's collaboration with educational institutions that want to improve educational opportunities for children and young people to be an important goal and sees clear links to sustainability.
The steps for children foundation is committed to promoting individual and social development in accordance with the UN Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals for Education. Education improves opportunities for employment and is a key to prosperity and peace. The organization supports residents of informal settlements in Namibia, where poverty and hunger are widespread. Since 2006, steps for children has been supporting children, adolescents and young adults with educational opportunities and healthy meals. Jobs are created through income-generating projects. The children supported have better grades and lower drop-out rates. Through caring supervision and reliable contacts, they have been able to develop a special bond with the steps facilities. A great success for the educational initiative.
We are delighted to receive this award, which recognises our work in Namibia and Zimbabwe and our efforts to provide education and continuity to children at risk of poverty. It is yet another incentive for us to continue on this important path and to make a lasting commitment to a better future in which opportunities are more fairly distributed.
