Dream house in Namibia
A dream house in Namibia – that would be great, right? In the afternoon class Gobabis some dream houses were realized and awarded.
Since 2021 we at steps for children in Gobabis a new teacher Manfred Haoseb, he is responsible for the steps homes and guardian angel children and the afternoon classes. He thinks up all sorts of new things to do after the homework has been successfully completed. On one of the afternoons when our national coordinator Ulrike Mai happened to be in Gobabis, he implemented an idea that could be carried out together with all the children in the after-school care and with a little help from the care teachers Sophia and Regina and the children - as you can see can - has brought a lot of joy.
The Craft Contest
So this afternoon Manfred prepared a handicraft lesson and designed it as a small competition. The aim of the craft competition was creative model building of a dream house of the individual children from all sorts of different materials. Glue and pens, wood waste from the carpentry workshop, paper and paint were put together and made available for each participant.
And then it started!
Walls for the houses were erected, windows were cut out, flowers were planted in the garden, roofs were sawn and glued to the finished walls, signs were painted, stairs were made and chimneys were built up. There were no limits to the imagination!
After a certain time, the finished buildings were distributed on tables to be evaluated by the jury, consisting of two older guardian angel children, who came out in disguise. The selection process was not easy...
Which dream house do you think is the most creative?
The guardian angel children and children from our steps homes proudly present their works. You can see how they get involved in the creative craft project, how hard they try and delve into their task. At the same time, the ability to concentrate and motor skills are trained, not least creativity.
Manfred looks after our children and young people with pleasure and takes a lot of honest interest in them. We are happy that he strengthens our teaching team in Gobabis.
