Idwal Jones has been translating German texts for steps for children into English since 2014 and has read a lot about steps' activities. Last year he, his wife Gabriele and daughter Lisa decided to go on vacation in Namibia and to work in a steps project for a few days.
In July 2019 they were in Okakarara for five days. They stayed in the guest house, attended the preschool and kindergarten classes in the mornings, gave the children lunch and helped in the afternoon with homework help for older students.

"Singing, learning and playing with the children in the mornings was fun, but we were able to contribute the most in the afternoons, where we were able to help the students individually or in small groups, especially in English and mathematics. In the project we were warmly welcomed by all employees and volunteers, but especially by the children and had a great and instructive time there. In this very short time, we have been able to gain a deep insight into life there, the social conditions and living conditions through the experience, but also in conversations with the employees and volunteers. For the three of us it was the start of a very nice round trip in Namibia.”
Dear Jones family, thank you very much for your support and we look forward to seeing you in Namibia again!
