[:en]

Michael Steinbach currently serves steps for children in Okakarara. The Jounalist dedicated during his stay non-professional tasks, helping where help is needed. Which tasks are and what obstacles confront him here in Namibia in the way he reported in steps currently – here the first part:

„Even with the end of 50 we wanted to take a long sabbatical and thereby make us something useful. That had my wife Ulrike and I decided already in 2012, now our plan became reality. Currently, we spend three months at steps for children in Okakarara. What my wife does here, was to be read in a newsletter steps recently. Since I have no educational background – by profession I am a journalist – but a versatile handyman am, I searched and found my field of activity in a peripheral area: I am sort of the caretaker and very happy with my new job on time. Because here it is never boring. Not a day goes by without at least one jammed cabinet, denied a toilet flush or a castle is tight. Above all, there is much to build and that is my great passion: Currently I’m building the substructure for the set design for the play „Handa’s Surprise“, which is shown to the closing ceremony of the school term in late November. Because the 10th anniversary of steps for children in spring 2016 „resumption“ of the piece is planned, it is played by the kindergarten children who are still here in the next year and then attend pre. In addition I have two stable blocks of squared timber connected by a bamboo pipe that protrudes laterally under the Deco. The piece finally plays in the savannah – and there is just bamboo. So also the caretaker can help a small creative contribution to the success of the celebration. “ Because the 10th anniversary of steps for children in spring 2016 „resumption“ of the piece is planned, it is played by the kindergarten children who are still here in the next year and then attend pre.
