At the beginning of June, Michael Hoppe and the project manager from Okakarara, Sonja Schneider-Waterberg, received a four-figure donation from the Bickbargen pupils. The children, together with their parents and teachers, collected money at the flea market, which they organized themselves at the school. 15 classes were involved. A major event in support of the children in Okakarara \u2013 one that will remain in everyone\u2019s memory. As will Sonja\u2019s reports from her day-to-day work in the project. She handed over the baton, the idea of steps \u2013 one of her former students is now a teacher at Bickbargen.<\/p>\n

The pupils, who had already taken part in an Africa project week, already knew quite a bit about the lives of children in the poverty districts. However, they were not yet familiar with the greeting of the Herero, which Michael Hoppe taught them: \u201eMorro, morro\u201c. Now they can say the first words in an African tribal language, which quickly became a catchphrase in classrooms and hallways.<\/p>\n
