Dear steps friends,<\/h2>\n

As more and more questions reach us from amongst our supporters about what things currently look like in Namibia in light of the many crises, we have decided to open the members\u2019 event of the support association of steps for children e.V. to all interested parties.<\/p>\n

You can look forward to a current situational report as well as a reading by Erika von Wietersheim, joining live from Namibia, who will read from her book \u201eGood Morning, Namibia!\u201c and with whom we will then discuss the current situation in Namibia.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>As votes cannot, for legal reasons, be validly cast online for the association, we ask members to attend in person in large numbers,<\/strong> so that we can vote on the amendments to the articles of association and the discharge of the board.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In September 2022, I was last on a project trip and saw how the current crises are affecting Namibia. I will describe successes and setbacks as well as outline current challenges and hopes.<\/p>\n

Where is the journey heading? Inputs from various speakers, some joining live from Namibia, will provide us with information and perspectives and thus offer plenty of scope for exchange and inspiration.<\/p>\n

Erika von Wietersheim,<\/strong> formerly a farmer, is a journalist and author of numerous books as well as a member of the Executive Council of the Council of Churches in Namibia. She is a founding member of Trust steps for children in Namibia and its first Chairperson. As the founder of Namibian educational initiatives, committed to overcoming colonialism, apartheid and poverty, and connected with the then independence movement, the author knows her country's history from a wide variety of perspectives. After a reading from her book \u201eGood Morning, Namibia!\u201c<\/strong> she will join us in the discussion.<\/p>\n

6.40 pm On the current situation in Namibia, input by Dr Michael Hoppe, Chair of the Board, including a subsequent discussion<\/p>\n

7.35 pm further contributions from Namibia are being sought<\/p>\n
