Many children do not know their own country<\/h2>\n

Many children in Namibia<\/a>, who grow up on the outer edge of society in informal settlements, have hardly any opportunity to explore their own country because of their living circumstances. Some children have never been to the capital, Windhoek, while others have not even been to the nearest town.<\/p>\n

Only our many Guardian Angels from Germany and around the world make this possible for our Steps Guardian Angel children by providing and financially supporting sustainable, close-knit care on site, tutoring and homework help, healthy nutrition, clothing, school fees and school uniforms. In this way, Guardian Angels make a very significant and fundamental contribution to the future of our more than 150 children and young people in Namibia. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Learning outside the classroom<\/h3>\n

steps for children also enables learning outside the classroom through the Guardian Angel programme \u2013 for example through excursions. In this way, pupils discover their own country or gain age-appropriate insights into the world of work of female firefighters and male firefighters or air traffic controllers.<\/p>\n

The guardian angel children from Okahandja<\/strong> <\/a>had a wonderful experience excursion to Windhoek this year, accompanied and guided by primary school teacher Bettina Gaebuse. She prepared the steps Guardian Angel children, most of whom are completing second grade this year, on the topics in afternoon lessons, organised child-friendly guided tours on site and, after the excursion, asked some questions to reinforce the experience. For example, there were tasks on professions, healthy foods and the places in Windhoek that the group visited together.<\/p>\n

The children were thrilled and enjoyed exploring the airport together with their friends, the University of Science and Technology (NUST), State House and Parliament Gardens, as well as the Medical School (Unam). Of course, healthy snack breaks with apples and oranges were not to be missed, there was also a play break at the playground, and a visit to the zoo was also on the programme.<\/p>\n

By now it is clear to teacher Bettina Gaebuse that the children learned a great deal in this short time and were able to make a connection between school and reality.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201eFurthermore, the tour was really a great opportunity for the Guardian Angels. In addition, it will really be of great benefit if the Guardian Angels will be given more opportunities like this tour, whereby they will be exposed to a lot of activities which will benefit them academically, socially, emotionally, pschologically.\u201c<\/em><\/p>\n

The excursion for the Guardian Angel children in Okahandja this year has already been funded. We are very grateful for this. To enable more children from the informal settlements to have access to education, Guardian Angel children can be supported on an ongoing basis here.<\/p>\n

A small one-off Christmas donation will also support our steadily growing number of Guardian Angel children.<\/strong><\/p>\n
