Celebrate a birthday with Mirjam Kammer<\/h2>\n

The first time\u00a0Mirjam Kammer<\/strong>\u00a0heard about steps for children, she stayed not far from steps in Okakarara, at Waterberg, at the guest farm. There she was told a lot \u2013 about the steps facility with preschool and kindergarten and the vegetable growing in Ongombombonde<\/a>; about the kindergarten groups, the preschool classes and Schutzengel children, as well as the sewing room in\u00a0Okakarara<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"\"\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

In the years that followed, she followed the development of the foundation and the locations in through the steps newsletters, online events, and personal contact with project manager Sonja Schneider-Waterberg Namibia<\/a>. She was certain \u2013 on her next trip to Namibia, she wanted to get to know steps personally. The travel planning started quickly, but had to be interrupted when the global coronavirus pandemic intervened.<\/p>\n

\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"\"\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

A craft session with the steps children in Okakarara is a must!<\/p>\n

On the second trip, which finally could take place in 2022, Mirjam Kammer and her husband stayed for four days directly at the steps guest house in Okakarara \u2013 just a few meters away from the steps premises with kindergarten and preschool buildings. This made it easy for her to visit the project every day on foot and exchange ideas with children, young people, and staff.<\/p>\n

\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"\"\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

Lively exchange with the educators.<\/p>\n

\u201eI am convinced that excellent and sustainable work is being done there (and not only there), in which local people are involved as equals and in a self-determined way.\u201c<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The kindergarten and preschool children are especially close to her heart \u2013 after all, she herself comes from the social sector and works as a social pedagogue in early childhood education and care, and for the past four years at Fr\u00fchen Hilfen.<\/p>\n

\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"\"\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\u201eWhat could be more fitting than asking for donations for steps for my celebration?<\/em>
The money is in the <\/em>b<\/em>best hands there!\u201c<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That prompted her early on to dedicate her next milestone birthday together with family, friends, and acquaintances to steps in Okakarara and to ask for donations instead of gifts: already four months before the big celebration, she made all the preparations and asked us for flyers, posters, and a personal QR code for her birthday donation link.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And so a proud four-digit sum was raised, benefiting the steps children in Okakarara.\u00a0<\/p>\n
