Dear steps friends,
while I was on a project trip to Namibia, the third and Most violent wave of infections to date has broken out. There are dramatic situations in some cities and regions, so entry and exit restrictions apply to the area that includes the cities of Windhoek, Okahandja and Rehoboth.

In the state hospitals there are borderline conditions, there is a lack of ventilators and oxygen. Many of my local friends are infected and some of them did not survive the virus. Employees and children in our projects were also infected. Our national coordinator Ulrike Mai has Desperately trying to get a ventilator and oxygen for a seriously ill project manager and her husband: the oxygen is simply not available.

Despite the large number of vaccinations available, very few vaccinations were recorded: 0,78% were vaccinated twice and 4,1% received the first vaccination. So far, larger parts of the population could hardly be convinced of a protective vaccination, but in the last 3 days with in some cases over 2.000 new infections per day, the situation has changed a little. "Corona has got a face, almost everyone now knows the infected and the dead"says Ulrike Mai.

Do you want to know more?
For those interested, I will report more personally and live about the project trip and answer your questions about it. This happens in our Open HOUSE am Thursday, June 24, 2021 in the steps COMMUNITY. We cordially invite you to do so.

I am looking forward to seeing you there on Thursday.

STEPS IN NAMIBIA

Daily meals for our steps children

Movie Okahandja Soup Kitchen
eating is vital. With our soup kitchens, we create a reliable source of food that offers children and young people from the surrounding informal settlements security. A warm and healthy meal every day from us forms the livelihood for most children. These children not only take care of themselves - they take additional servings home in containers to give to their family members. In Okahandja, the soup kitchen has, despite renewed
Interruption of school and kindergarten operations due to the rapidly spreading new wave of infections still open: in normal times 3 times a week, now with the drastic increase in the number of infections but daily. Only together with you can we ensure that the soup kitchens are the most important source of supply for the 700 to 1.500 upcoming children to give a meal.

Donate here for our soup kitchens and
thus ensure daily warm meals for our steps children.

Thanks for the warm blankets

Winter blankets 2021 Gobabis (10) _cl
The warm blankets, which so many of you have donated in large numbers, so that steps children and young people can better survive this cold winter, were made very gratefully accepted.

How much warmth is necessary, I experienced first hand: at night temperatures down to 0 ° C and sometimes without heating, I was able to help myself with a hot water bottle, as Regina from our steps homes advised me: fill a plastic bottle with hot water and take it under the covers . Worked for me and slept well.

Are you already a guardian angel?

On my project trip I met two of our 140+ Guardian Angel children. The two of them are in 10th grade in Otjiwarongo, where they deal with everyday school life together. Take a look at what their life at school is like and what their career aspirations are.
To enable even more Guardian Angel children to attend school,
we urgently need more guardian angels.

Solar lamps for our Guardian Bell learners

Thanks to a generous donor, can Regina (High school graduate from steps homes in Gobabis) now studying in the glow of a solar lamp. This is necessary because there is no electricity in the spartan hut. Also Fritz (one of our guardian angel children) can consider himself lucky. The eleventh grader is working towards his Abitur and we were able to give him a solar lamp with this donation.
In order to equip Fritz's friends (also guardian angel children) from the 11th grade with a solar lamp, we need further donations.

Relaxed after work with yoga

Cornelius Herstatt
Our steps Ambassador Cornelius Herstatt offered a yoga course for free in the steps COMMUNITY. He linked this campaign with a fundraising campaign that was successfully completed last month.

Dear Cornelius, thank you very much for your yoga class, which led us relaxed into the evening on Tuesdays.

All of Germany is looking for the vaccination certificate!

WHOLE ~ 2
Not everyone can find it. There is a new yellow booklet with ours steps ambassador, Dr. Stani Nawka, in practice only against a donation for steps for children. The patients are enthusiastic and of course we are also very happy about this original campaign.

Dear Stani, thank you very much for your idea, the useful with the non-profit in your practice over and over again wonderful to connect in favor of steps.
