Dr Michael Hoppe on a project trip to Namibia in 2015

[:en]

For several days now I have been travelling through Namibia to visit our steps projects, looking at the latest developments and buildings, having detailed discussions with the staff, and enjoying our lively steps children.

Last Monday, the first meeting took place, at which the heads of all steps projects, or the projects with which steps for children cooperates, came together in one place.

The venue was the home of our newest cooperation partner Okahandja Samaritans Network (OSN) in Okahandja, with the director Maria Khaises and the staff Lea, Elize and Robin. From the other project locations, the following had travelled there: Sonja Schneider-Waterberg (Okakarara), Henk Olwage (Gobabis), Susan du Toit (Otavi) and Melvyrine Bock (Rehoboth). In addition, our National Coordinator, Stefan Schultheiss, and I took part.

Project leaders' meeting 2015

Everyone reported on developments in their project and their specific experiences. Through the exchange of knowledge, the participants were able to learn from one another and so benefit both in their work at their own project site and in achieving the objectives of steps for children as a whole. Everyone parted in high spirits and decided to keep each other regularly informed and to exchange ideas, and to hold this kind of project leaders' meeting at least every 6 months.

I am delighted with this promising outcome of the meeting.
