In keeping with the spring-like temperatures, visitors were invited to the African Market Afrikanischer Frühling in Hamburg-Barmbek. The festival on the weekend of 12 and 13 May offered, alongside a lively open-air stage, further lovely, useful and culinary delights from Africa.

Thanks to the support of seven volunteers and our new intern Insa Franzmann, steps for children was represented on site with a stand. Insa described her great impressions as follows:
„In the quiet shadow of the Harbour Festival, a small stand staffed by dedicated volunteers was represented at the African Market Afrikanischer Frühling. Full of drive, we set up our tent and positioned our flyers alongside some selected sewing products from our sewing room in Okakarara. Equipped with the latest information directly from our projects, we, Anton Rathgeb, Anne Rumbach, Christine Leege, Cara Möller, Claudia Mohr, Birgit Eckert, Wolfgang Kuckelt and I, the new intern, threw ourselves into the bustle of the knowledge-hungry crowd. When we cleared up at 20:30, we could look back on a wonderfully sunny day, peppered with interesting conversations about the foundation and its possibilities. We gained great impressions from our neighbouring stands, which offered delicious food, art, clothing and cultural offerings all centred around the theme of Africa.
For me, it was a successful day for steps, full of friendly, committed, laughing and also dancing people of all ages, all united by their interest in Africa.“

Many thanks to all the volunteers and Insa for this fantastic support and participation at the African Market for steps for children.
