Another highlight during my stay in Okakarara was the meeting with Chief Sam Kambazembi, the new Royal Highness, Supreme Chief of the traditional authorities. His father, the then Chief Kambazembi, and I had met for the first time almost exactly 10 years ago. After I had presented him with my vision and plans for steps for children, he asked me to start the first steps project in Okakarara. That's how we came to set up our pilot project near the Waterberg.
f.l. Festus Tjikuua, Chairman of the Trust steps for children, Chief Sam Kambazembi,
Dr Michael Hoppe and Sonja Schneider-Waterberg, the project manager in Okakarara.
After his father passed away, his brother had performed some inauguration ceremonies for new buildings and steps at our place, but he also left this world (much too early). At the end of last year, Chief Sam Kambazembi's inauguration ceremony took place and so we planned to get to know each other on my next trip. Good cooperation is important both for the community and for steps for children in Okakarara. During our meeting, I was able to tell him about the development history of steps for children and we parted „as friends“, as Chief Kambazembi emphasised.

After the death of the father's brother had some initiation ceremonies of new buildings and steps carried out at us, but he is also (far too early) gone from this world. Late last year, the solemn inauguration of Chief Sam Kambazembi took place and so we planned to meet us on my next trip. A good cooperation is important both for the community and for steps for children in Okakarara. I could bring him at our meeting the development history of steps for children closer and we parted „as friends“ as Chief Kambazembi stressed.
