Education donors in Africa - the panel discussion at the KörberForum
Foundation founder Michael Hoppe has been invited to take part in the panel discussion at the KörberForum in Hamburg as an education donor in Africa. Together with Africa expert Matthias Rompel and moderator Jana Lunz from the Körber Foundation, it promises to be an interesting Wednesday evening.

What is it about?
At the age of 58, Dr. Michael Hoppe founded the steps for children foundation. Since 2006, it has supported the education of children in Namibia and Zimbabwe and provides help for self-help through workshops and vegetable cultivation.
During the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the families’ sources of income have disappeared and the population’s food situation is catastrophic. In conversation with Prof. Dr. Matthias Rompel, Head of Southern Africa at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, the following questions will be addressed:
- What can an individual achieve in development cooperation?
- How entrepreneurial can a development project in Namibia be run?
- And what motivates older people to change the world by making a fresh start?
