History: The second facility of the steps for children foundation was established in Namibia in 2010 through cooperation with Light for the Children * realized. Initiated by Henk Olwage (former director), the facility consisted of a soup kitchen and a preschool. Through the cooperation, further social steps could be set up and small businesses built up. together we succeed To create jobs in Epako, the poorest district of Gobabis, which at the same time give the social activities a possibility of financing. The facility was expanded to include the income-generating steps, a carpentry shop and a guest house. In addition, the idea of steps homes developed here for the first time.

Effect: Through the social steps With a crèche, kindergarten, preschool, soup kitchen and afternoon classes, together with our longstanding and reliable project partner Light for the Children, we ensure that the girls and boys in the surrounding slums have an educational childhood, encourage play and learning and offer safe contact points. Through our Income generating steps - the carpentry and the guest house, the hiring of teachers and other employees, we reduce unemployment and help the region to stabilize itself economically.
