Our chefs Adelhuid and Taree from the soup kitchen in Okakarara have shared two delicious recipes with us that not only the kids love.
Children often have to leave home on an empty stomach. At steps for children, a balanced meal prepared with lots of love awaits them, helping them to concentrate better at school and supporting their development.
Here are two recipes to try at home:
1. Meat recipe à la Adelhuid
Ingredients:
– Meat
– Oil
– Salt
– Spice mix
– Onions
– Water
First, add the oil, salt, spices, onions and a little water to the meat. Then bring it to the boil and let it simmer until it is tender. It is ready when all the water has evaporated.
It can be served with any salad (bean salad, mixed salad,…) and pasta or rice.
2. Vegetable stew à la Taree
Ingredients:
– Potatoes
– Carrots
– Cabbage
– Water
– Oil
– Spice mix
– Salt
– Onions
First peel the potatoes and carrots and cut them into small pieces together with the cabbage. This vegetable is brought to the boil in a pot with water until it is cooked through but still firm to the bite. Then oil, spices, salt and the onions are added and brought to the boil again until the water has evaporated. Then the vegetable stew can be served.
Taree especially likes this recipe because you can still see and taste the different ingredients individually at the end, but together they form a wonderful whole. It is also healthy.

2. Vegetable Stew à la Taree
Ingredients:
– Potatoes
– carrots
– cabbage
– water
– oil
– spice blend
– salt
– onion
First, peel the potatoes and carrots and cut together with the carbon into small pieces. This vegetable is contacted with water in a pot to boil until it, but still is quite al dente. After oil, spices, salt and onions are added and again boiled until the water has evaporated. Then you can serve the vegetable stew.
Taree like this recipe particularly like, because you can see the different ingredients in the end still single and also taste, but they together form a great unit. It is also healthy.
