The two volunteers Katharina Wagner and Sophia Eckerth have not only organized a varied holiday program for the children; they are also active at the beginning of the school year with great dedication and new ideas.
After the successful holiday care with plaster masks, face painting, colouring in Christmas pictures, obstacle course running, building sandcastles in the sandpit, bobby car races, football, etc., which we enjoyed just as much as the children themselves, project life in Okakarara has been up and running again since 11 January. The new school year, which always starts here in January, has now begun with the first of three terms.

During the first few days, the hundred children from kindergarten and preschool were assigned to the new classes and got used to the daily project routine, and by now everything is running almost like clockwork. In the soup kitchen, as usual, potatoes are diligently peeled, tomatoes puréed, and traditional Milliepap is cooked for the many hungry children. The afternoon program has also been taking place as usual for two weeks. The current focuses are multiplication, reading aloud, adjectives/adverbs, and pronouns. The „Arts Shack“ is bustling again too: Our new volunteer, Eva Maria Frey, made small bags with the older children from fabric scraps from the sewing room.
