Construction begins at Otto Gamseb in Rehoboth

After we finally received the final documents from the authorities for the construction of a new school building at our partner project Otto Gamseb in Rehoboth and the plot had been transferred to steps for children, we were able to lay the foundation stone at the end of June. Unfortunately, shortly afterwards came the sobering news: when digging the foundation, it was found that part of the area had been filled with contaminated material.

Nobody knew about this and, as a consequence, the city building inspector carried out a site visit. The foundation now has to be reinforced, i.e. excavated deeper, larger stones and appropriate reinforcement installed. We now had to obtain another permit from the city building inspector. Fortunately, for the additional costs arising from reinforcing the foundation, we quickly found another sponsor – Hilfe für Afrika e.V. –. We cannot thank our loyal supporters often enough, as they repeatedly help us to overcome difficulties – THANK YOU

After we finally received the final documents of the authorities for the construction of a new school building with our partner project Otto Gamseb in Rehoboth and the plot has been rewritten to steps for children, we could set the ground-breaking ceremony in late June. Here came a short time after the disillusionment: When lifting the foundation was found that part of the area is filled with contaminated material.

Of which no one knew, and as a consequence there was a site visit by the city architect. The foundation must be reinforced to Excavating ie deeper, installing larger stones and appropriate experience. We now had the Stadtbaumeister seek further approval. For the costs of their the foundation reinforcement costs we have fortunately quickly a further conveyor – Help for Africa – found. Not often enough, we can thank our loyal supporters who help us always to bridge impasses – THANKS
