After we finally received the final documents from the authorities for the construction of a new school building at our partner project Otto Gamseb in Rehoboth and the plot had been transferred to steps for children, we were able to lay the foundation stone at the end of June. Unfortunately, shortly afterwards came the sobering news: when digging the foundation, it was found that part of the area had been filled with contaminated material.

No one knew about this, and as a consequence, the city architect conducted a site inspection. The foundation must now be reinforced, i.e. excavated deeper, with larger stones and appropriate reinforcement installed. We then had to obtain an additional permit from the city architect. Fortunately, we quickly found another sponsor – Hilfe für Afrika e.V. – to cover the additional costs arising from reinforcing the foundation. We can never thank our loyal supporters enough, as they keep helping us overcome obstacles – THANK YOU
