We are planning not only to expand the vegetable garden in Okakarara, but also to “professionalize” it. It will then be a typical “income-generating step” that will help us become independent of donations in the long term. In addition to the cultivation carried out so far (income for the employees and vegetables for the soup kitchen), enough vegetables and fruit should be available for sale in the nearby shops and farms, thereby helping to co-finance the kindergarten and preschool to a greater extent than before.
A significant part of the cultivation is to take place under shade nets in order to reduce environmental influences (sun, frost, insects, wild boar) and achieve a greater yield. A breeding station for forest, fruit and citrus trees is also to be added.
