Last weekend, the Alafia festival in Altona took place again, at which we from steps for children were traditionally present. We provided interested visitors with information about the foundation's work in Namibia, and also sold products from our income-generating step sewing room in Okakarara, which was very well received.

After Saturday initially started very quietly, more and more visitors came to our stand from the afternoon onwards despite the midsummer temperatures.
We were able to delight the children with balloons and colourful water bottles, and the adults were able to buy our various sewing products and learn more about the work of steps from our volunteers. In this way, we met many lovely people, with whom interesting conversations arose.
On Sunday too, many visitors found their way to the festival and to our stand in the sunshine. Unfortunately, the forecast storm did not take long to arrive, and in the afternoon the heavens opened and sent torrents of water, lightning and hail down on us. Thanks to the quick help of our volunteers, we were able to save most of it, although one or two people got „a little“ wet. So Sunday came to an end very suddenly and, unfortunately, a little too early.
Nevertheless, the stand was once again a great success, and the income from the sale of the sewing products as well as donations help ensure that our projects in Africa continue to be financially strengthened.
That is why we would like once again to thank all the volunteers from the bottom of our hearts, who presented steps so professionally to the outside world, and who did such great work with the set-up and dismantling and under the extreme weather conditions. None of this would have been possible without you!
A huge thank you from the entire steps team!
