We would like to warmly invite you to the charity exhibition by the two artists Eva Valente and Lvis Mejía on 18/19 September 2015 at DIALOG IM DUNKELN, Alter Wandrahm 4, 20457 Hamburg.
The event is supported by the Mexican cultural attaché Francisco Xavier Gurza Barroso, who will attend the opening on Friday, 18.09.15, at 8 p.m. On Saturday, 19.09.15, the exhibition is open from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
20% of the proceeds from the sale of exhibited works will go to the projects of the steps for children foundation. By recommending the exhibition to art enthusiasts, you are helping to spread the artists’ commitment. The event is organised by our long-standing supporter Christian Nawrocki/Nawrocki PR & Communication.
The Hamburg-born Eva Valente (1986) completed her art studies at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts. During her studies, she lived in New York for three years and took courses at Columbia University (including at the Computer Music Center). Travel and stays abroad have shaped her work to this day. In painting, photography and digital media, the natural space plays a central role in Valente’s work, both in its boundlessness and diversity as well as in its continuity and renewal.
The work of the contemporary artist and musician Lvis Mejía is interdisciplinary in scope (audiovisual performances, installations, film, etc.). He has already presented his work at numerous internationally renowned exhibitions, including at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, ICA in London, dOCUMENTA 13 in Kassel, the House of World Cultures in Berlin, MUAC in Mexico City and the Hamburger Kunsthalle.
After Mejía left his home city of Mexico City in 2005, he devoted himself to studying art and philosophy in Kiel, Hamburg and Boston. He currently lives in Berlin.
With his work, Mejía calls for political discourse. Five of the eight works address the topic of refugees. Online map In the multidisciplinary work Where nobody’s face rests the artist has 12 refugees present tell their stories and expectations of Europe through portraits and texts.
