On 13 September, Dr Michael Hoppe was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon by the Second Mayor of the City of Hamburg, Katharina Fegebank, at a ceremony at Hamburg City Hall.
In her refreshing speech, Mrs Fegebank was visibly impressed by the wealth of achievements that Michael Hoppe has made over the past ten years by setting up his foundation.
She particularly emphasised Michael Hoppe's clever, prudent actions and the constant perseverance with which he has faced both the bureaucratic mills of Namibia and the cultural challenges there in setting up the various projects.

In his thanks for this award Michael Hoppe emphasised that all of this was only possible thanks to the commitment of the people he has been able to inspire and win over to the cause over the years. It was therefore not surprising that a circle of friends and helpers had gathered to take part in this festive occasion.
The joy of these ten successful years for steps for children was written on the faces of all those present. And alongside the gratitude for so much good and beneficial success, the hope of preserving what has been achieved and building on it for the benefit of the children to whom the foundation has dedicated itself also came through.

Particularly she raised the wise, prudent action by Michael Hoppe forth and the constant perseverance with which he is opposed both the bureaucratic mills Namibia as well as the local cultural challenges build the various projects.

In his thanks for this ceremony Michael Hoppe placed particular emphasis on the finding that it this is all been possible only through the commitment of the people he was able to inspire and win over the years for the cause. So it was not surprising that had gathered with on that day, a group of friends and supporters, to participate in this solemn hour.
Everyone here has the joy of these ten successful years for steps for children was written in their faces.And in addition to the gratitude for so much good and a pleasant success, penetrated even the hope of preserving the acquis and further expand for the benefit of children, where the Foundation has prescribed.
