…for our female volunteers who worked in the projects at steps. There were soon no return flights left that could be booked. After Namibia had closed its borders, the female volunteers remained in Okakarara at Sonja Schneider-Waterberg’s guest farm and with her family; the female volunteers in Gobabis were able to find refuge in Windhoek, as were Rebecca and Lisa, who completed their Voluntary Social Year in Rehoboth.

It was repeatedly said that the Federal Government would collect the volunteers scattered all over the world. On 28 March, the departure plans were finally carried out and by now the two short-term volunteers are no longer waiting for their flights.  All volunteers have safely returned to their families in Germany.
