Promoting good sleep for healthy development with mattresses
Age-appropriate development requires more than just nutrition and education - healthy sleep is also needed to enable children to be awake and alert in kindergarten and school.
There are rarely beds in the dwellings of the informal settlements. Often, several family members share sheets that do not keep out the cold and offer little comfort. Good sleep is very valuable and plays a crucial role in the physical and mental development of children: During sleep, the body produces hormones that are important for children's physical growth and sleep also supports cognitive development, learning and memory formation. Improving the quality of the sleeping environment with mattresses therefore promotes the healthy development of children. Insufficient sleep, on the other hand, causes concentration problems, behavioural problems and can lead to impaired immune function. It is therefore crucial that we also pay attention to children's sleeping habits and provide them with an environment that supports restful sleep. Upgrading the quality of the sleeping environment with mattresses thus promotes the healthy development of children.
