✨ Stiftung steps for children was awarded the Peter von Zahn Memorial Prize as part of the Hamburg Citizens' Prize 2025! ✨
The Prize
The Hamburg Citizen Award was founded in 1982 by CDU Hamburg. It sees itself as a politically completely independent award that honours people and institutions in Hamburg who have rendered outstanding service to the common good. The Peter von Zahn Memorial Award is presented for the commitment of Hamburg institutions and personalities abroad.
On behalf of the entire steps team, which enables children and young people in Namibia to have a chance of a better future through education and training and, as social entrepreneurs, found small businesses in order to strengthen local communities through jobs and training opportunities, foundation founder Dr Michael Hoppe gratefully accepted the Peter von Zahn Memorial Award.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Prof. Dr. Michael Göring for his appreciative words: „The Citizen Award/Peter von Zahn Award aims to recognise and make even more visible what you and all your colleagues in Namibia have achieved. By awarding you the prize, we want to show what the charitable commitment of a personality who sees themselves as a social entrepreneur can achieve in just under 20 years.“
We warmly congratulate the winners who were also honoured last night as part of the Hamburg Citizen Award: the association Hände für Kinder – Kupferhof gGmbH and the light artist Michael Batz.
