IN DEEP MOURNING
With deep sorrow, we bid farewell to Milly Bock, our project manager in Rehoboth.
With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we must inform you that Melvyrine Bock passed away on June 28, 2021 after a severe case of Covid. We are devastated and mourn the loss of our project manager from Rehoboth, who will leave a great void in the lives of her husband, children and grandchildren, colleagues and all steps children.
We have been working with Milly since 2013
Melvyrine was a strong, determined and highly socially committed woman, with whom we had worked since 2013. She coordinated our partner projects Heart for the Children (until 2019) and Otto Xamseb, and since the end of 2017, we have also been a project partner of the social project Bridge of Hope, which she founded. This consists of a kindergarten, a preschool and a private primary school and, in addition to children whose parents can afford this school, also admits children whose parents cannot afford the monthly school fees. She also devotedly cared for 11 steps sponsored children.
Milly cared for the project's own children, but also for children from the surrounding poor neighbourhoods. With the soup kitchen newly built by steps for children in 2019, she offered daily hot meals to hundreds of external children as well, to save them from famine.
She actively supported the project leader of Otto Xamseb with accounting and also managed our rental properties in Rehoboth, which generate income for our social steps projects.
We will miss her big heart
Milly always put the well-being of others before her own and was also deeply involved in the community. We will greatly miss Melvyrine's big heart, her trusting, joyful and reliable nature, and her sensitivity to the concerns of the Namibian communities. We will miss her greatly as a committed partner at steps for children, and she will leave a great void that we cannot fill.
We would like to express our sincere condolences to her husband, her children and the entire family. In the midst of their grief, we wish them that they may find what Milly worked for all the days of her life: A Bridge of Hope. A hope that helps all of us overcome the darkness and pain of these days and weeks and allows us to look to the future.
As the steps for children Foundation, we will provide the bereaved family of the deceased with financial support for the funeral, firewood and food instead of floral arrangements. If you would like to contribute, we offer the opportunity here:
