Today is International Day of the Girl Child!

[:en]

Today, on 11 October, is International Day of the Girl Child, established by the United Nations. We take this opportunity to report on the situation of girls in Namibia.

The topic of equality is still relevant in Namibia, especially in rural areas. Girls there are less often given the chance to go to school or perhaps to learn a trade. In our steps projects, we therefore particularly advocate for the rights and equality of girls.

As education is an important factor in development, we accompany girls on their educational journey – with great success! With the help of our Guardian Angel programme, three confident girls reached secondary school this year. The three pupils not only have the chance of a better future, but also encourage other girls and women to stand up for their education and equality.
