Little guardian angels from Hamburg
The School at the garden city, a primary school in the Hamburg district of Wandsbek, is getting involved: Many pupils in the first and third classes are becoming little guardian angels!
The Schule an der Gartenstadt from Hamburg was also a great help for our guardian angel children last year. We were very pleased that the pupils in the first and third classes supported our guardian angel children throughout the year with a wide range of activities right up to December – even though they are almost the same age!
Markus Fink, teacher of class 1c and initiator of the guardian angel campaign, has already visited our facilities in person and got to know the guardian angel children in Okakarara – he can tell his class a great deal. It is not the first time that the children of Schule an der Gartenstadt have been involved for steps! Together for guardian angel children
Together, classes 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e and 3d and 3e collected the donations through several campaigns. In mid-December there was a Christmas market organised by 3e. Mulled wine and homemade biscuits were sold there to pupils and teachers. The pupils thought about it and announced this campaign in advance with handmade posters and an email. On a cold grey day in December in the school playground, the children and teachers then enjoyed a warm mulled wine.
In November, class 3d held an in-house picture sale campaign in support of the steps guardian angel children. In addition, some teachers at Schule an der Gartenstadt donated together for guardian angel children, and the school also received further donations from the parents of the first classes in support of the steps guardian angel children.
This means that six classes at Schule an der Gartenstadt are guardian angels for two of our guardian angel children in Namibia; some teachers have also donated for another guardian angel child.
