[:en]

Ivondia, OkakararaIvondia, 42 years old, has been working as a preschool teacher at steps for children in Okakarara since 2007. She is especially caring, looks after the children’s hygiene and provides first aid. Ivondia is married to a teacher and has four daughters; three of them are still in school, while the oldest is already working. Besides her educational work at steps, she also helps some of her neighbours„ children with their homework. Afterwards, she prepares the food and attends to the housework. Speaking about the position of women in Namibia, she says they are much more active than men because, on the one hand, they make use of every opportunity to earn money to support their families, and, on the other, they raise their children and run the household. In the future, she would like to meet more women from other countries in order to gain new perspectives and impressions. “Women must keep up,„ as she says, because they are “the mothers of our nation”.

Ivondia, 42 years old, has been working as a preschool teacher at steps for children in Okakarara since 2007. She is especially attentive to the children, taking care of their hygiene and providing first aid. Ivondia is married to a teacher and has four daughters, three of them are still at school while the eldest is already working. Besides her work as an educator at steps, Ivondia also helps some of her neighbours’ children with their homework in the afternoon. Once the tutoring is done, she starts preparing dinner, and afterwards she has to do the housework. Her opinion about the position of women in Okakarara is that they are more willing to work than men, because most of them are, on the one hand, doing jobs to support their families and, on the other, have to raise their children and take care of the household. Her wish for the future is to meet more women from different countries in order to gain new views and impressions. In her opinion, “women have to keep up,” as she says, because they are ”the mothers of our nation.”
