My name is Vincent Rothe. I am 19 years old and was a volunteer at steps for children in Namibia for 3 months. My assignment lasted from January 7, 2020, to April 5, 2020. The project I worked at is located in Okakarara, a small town near the Waterberg.

There, I worked together with two year-long volunteers and another volunteer who was also at the project for three months. The project in Okakarara is very diverse; it consists of a kindergarten, a nursery, a preschool, an afternoon childcare program, and a soup kitchen. Accordingly, we divided up and worked with the teachers and nursery staff. 

A variety of tasks had to be completed, such as looking after the toddlers, looking after the older children's homework, but also practical activities. You are rewarded every day by the children's reactions. I really enjoyed the work, also with everyone who worked with me on the project. Unfortunately, I had to leave early due to the coronavirus crisis, but I hope to visit the project again as soon as possible.
