The Soroptimists (from the Latin „sorores optimae,“ meaning „best sisters„) are one of the world’s largest service organizations for working women. Social and political engagement is the central concern of the “best sisters”: they are particularly committed to ensuring unhindered access to education and training for girls and women, as well as their economic independence and lasting employment opportunities. As an NGO, Soroptimists are represented at national, European, and international level in various UN sub-organizations.
