As part of the political education of officers, a full-day seminar on Africa was held in Garlstedt in March 2017. Political scientists and embassy staff presented various aspects of the current situation. Here, unsurprisingly, a gloomy picture of Africa was presented. In contrast, the positive picture that steps-Ambassador Hans-Christian Schröder was able to present of the support and assistance for Namibia stood out pleasantly. The participants were impressed by the idea of self-help and how it is implemented at the various locations. Above all, the support for children's education and the way in which the projects were implemented with the help of the population while preserving their dignity convinced the officers. A request has been made for another presentation at further seminars.
