Student group on a special assignment in Africa

[:en]

Once again, a group of 14 female and male students from the Hamburg Gymnasium Eppendorf travelled to Namibia during the autumn holidays. For years, students and teachers have been involved at our Gobabis site through their association Hege Helping Hands. In 2017, too, they are actively involved and provide valuable support for our steps projects and our partner project Light for the Children.

Together with the project staff in Gobabis, they build, screw and saw, and help construct steps homes houses.

Enthusiastically, together with their teacher Norbert Grote, they make cupboards for various rooms based on a template. Although none of the pupils has any experience in carpentry, they master it successfully.

For years, the association Hege Helping Hands has carried out projects on children’s rights and child poverty. Committed to the motto “Don’t talk, just do it!”, the participants provide tremendous support. Through various activities, they have supported steps for children on several occasions. We would like to sincerely thank the students, teachers and the association for their remarkable work and their full commitment to steps.

Further information about the association can be found at: http://www.gymnasium-eppendorf.de/vereine/hege-helping-hands/
