Theodor-Heuss-Schule in Pinneberg does good deeds
For several years, a group of students at the Theodor-Heuss-Schule (THS) in Pinneberg has been working to get involved socially. As a working group, the initiative began with a focus on an orphanage in Tanzania. In 2021, our association “THS tut Gutes.”
Every year, the school organizes a sponsored run and a Christmas bazaar. During this year’s sponsored run, all students, many teachers and external runners ran around the school for 60 minutes . Before the run began, each participant had sought sponsors. These set a donation amount themselves for each kilometer run. In addition, food and drinks as well as raffle tickets were sold at various stalls. All prizes were donated by companies. In total, THS was able to raise over 34.000 euros in the sponsored run!
Jams made from berries, handmade soap and bird feed
The Advent bazaar took place this year on 24.11.2021 and thus had the atmosphere of a Christmas market. The fellow students had juiced berries, cooked jams, made soaps and made birdseed themselves. At many meetings held on weekends, items were created that we were able to sell at a large number of stalls. A total of 3984,67 euros was raised there – they thus surpassed themselves.
Who does the school do good deeds for?
The money raised is so substantial this year that the association decided not only to support an orphanage, but also a further 15 global, social and ecological projects.
steps for children was selected among the 15 projects
Every member of the school could suggest projects. The entire student body selected 15 projects from the proposals, each of which is to be funded with 1000€. steps for children stood for election and was selected as one of these 15 projects. The foundation was represented by a small stall at the bazaar. Bags and aprons from the sewing room in Okakarara were sold and interested parties were informed about the projects. Interest was high, especially among upper-secondary students who can imagine volunteering after school.
