The South African non-profit organisation Accredited Test Centres (ATCs) awards computer schools in Southern Africa a certificate. These computer schools are then considered as accredited test centres, which are allowed to train for and administer the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL). They are identified as such on the ATCs website. Since 17 June 2019, the computer school in Gobabis by steps for children has also been included.
Now you can search for test centres on the ICDL website and find us on the map in Gobabis. An important step towards bringing more people into our schools. The award of the steps computer school strengthens the project and generates more reach and, in turn, further income.
Peik Bruns, National Coordinator of steps for children in Namibia, is delighted: „Congratulations to steps Gobabis – and especially to the steps computer school. It was rated „excellent“. Achieving this took a lot of work and all those who contributed deserve a big round of applause. As steps wants to set standards and be regarded as a quality service provider, this is very good news!“
In 2014, the head of the computer school in Gobabis, Noubert Louw, passed the ICDL examination and has been allowed to administer this test ever since. He has already trained many people in the various programs such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc., so that they can then take the ICDL. But only with the current recognition is the computer school registered to also administer the final ICDL exam. Incidentally, it is the only full-fledged ICDL centre in eastern Namibia!
A bravo and a big thank you from us too to the staff members who invested a great deal of time and effort in this long process!
Please also help with the further training of our staff members!
Depending on the training, the costs are between 700 and 1,700 euros per year.
