Benefit concert with high proceeds for Namibian children

At the beginning of April, the two Ottersberg choirs „Open-Ears“ and “Groove it“ gave a charity concert in Fischerhude, the proceeds of which benefited steps for children. Our volunteer supporter Wolfgang Brune gave the audience a presentation on the work of steps for children.

The Liebfrauenkirche was almost full of musically interested listeners that evening. The choir evening began with a gospel song performed jointly by both choirs and an introduction by the choir directors Titi del Ponte and Holger Schmidt-Lechterbeck. Later, „Groove it“ presented several songs from the seventies and eighties with a distinct pop influence. The mix of gospel and pop went down very well.

After the interval, Wolfgang Brune showed moving videos and images about the project work of steps in Namibia and spoke about his personal experiences there. He was particularly moved by meeting the children he visited at the various project locations.

The successful evening ended with two songs performed jointly and was rewarded with prolonged applause from the audience. It raised a three-figure donation amount that could be transferred to the Hamburg foundation.

The entire steps team would like to thank everyone involved for their wonderful commitment. We will use the donation amount to support our Namibian kindergartens and schools.
