Education donor Hoppe in Africa

At the age of 58, Dr. Michael Hoppe founded the steps for children Foundation. Since 2006, it has supported the education of children and young people in Namibia and Zimbabwe and, with its own income-generating steps such as workshops and vegetable cultivation, provided help for self-help. During the still-ongoing pandemic, many families’ sources of income have disappeared, and the population’s food situation is catastrophic. In this video, Michael Hoppe is in conversation with Prof. Dr. Matthias Rompel, Head of the Southern Africa Department at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). They discuss the following questions: What can an individual achieve in development cooperation? How entrepreneurial can a development project in Namibia be run? And what motivates older people to change the world with a fresh start?
