Hamburger schoolchildren become guardian angels for children in Namibia
Primary school children of the School at the garden city from Hamburg raise an almost five-figure donation for steps guardian angel children in Okakarara, Namibia.
The primary school pupils in the 2nd and 4th grades at Schule an der Gartenstadt in Hamburg Wandsbek have outdone themselves this year – in a charity run they raised an almost five-figure donation – a large sum with which our guardian angel children can be provided with learning materials and school uniforms, supplied with daily warm meals, and given comprehensive care and support in afternoon lessons.

In several rounds, the pupils ran, walked, hopped and hiked on a cool fresh day in April in support of the steps guardian angel children in Okakarara. Some parents and the teachers of the classes cheered on the primary school children and supported them in this great effort.
Every step counts and helps promote the education of our guardian angel children. The solidarity and generosity of the school community are overwhelming and show how much we can achieve together.

Together, all the children gather on the large meadow in front of the school at the start of the run.

Hand-painted posters for the guardian angel children in Okakarara decorate the running route!
Schule an der Gartenstadt is not the first time to support our steps children
Overall, Schule an der Gartenstadt has been helping the steps children in Namibia since 2012 – with charity runs, Christmas bazaars, punch and jam sales. Here we have a small summary of the previous activities:
- Little guardian angels from Hamburg
- Impressive 4th graders
- Christmas baking at Schule an der Gartenstadt in Hamburg
- On autumn paths for steps
- Project week – Schule an der Gartenstadt
This year's handing over of the donation cheque took place at the beginning of June – all the children and their teachers as well as steps for children board member Andreas Roß were present. He brought along a short presentation that once again made it clear to the pupils which children they are supporting so energetically.

Dear second- and fourth-grade pupils, dear teachers, dear Mr. Fink, your commitment and unwavering support impress us greatly. We would like to thank you warmly, also on behalf of the guardian angel children in Namibia, to everyone who contributed to the success of this charity run and for every kilometer run!
