Do you still remember the first groundbreaking for the kitchen in February? We reported about it here and are now very pleased that the construction work was completed at the end of March.

The new kitchen with gas and electric cooking facilities, a refrigerator and freezer, kitchen cabinets and large work surfaces for preparing lunch was financed mainly by the Rotary Club Hamburg Haake.

Does the “Bridge of Hope” project now actually have a second kitchen?

No. The need for a new kitchen arose because of the rapidly growing number of children cared for at “Bridge of Hope”. And the room that originally served as a kitchen was converted into a teachers’ room and an administrative block. This made it possible to ensure that classes continued to run at the usual high quality. However, the kitchen with cooking facilities and meal service was only housed provisionally.

The new soup kitchen now provides all children who attend the Bridge of Hope project, as well as all staff members and teachers, with a warm lunch every day, prepared in a 25-square-metre kitchen and served in a covered dining room.

The entire steps for children team and all the children, who can now start the second half of the day feeling full and content after their lunch break, would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Rotary Club Hamburg Haake for funding the new kitchen!
