Single Quarter in Katutura
In the poorest district of Windhoek, Katutura, we founded a new social facility for children that creates opportunities through educational programs and care as well as meals.
We are delighted that our new facility, the “Single Quarter” preschool in Katutura, can begin its work in April. On the grounds of the “Jakob Marengo” facility in Katutura, we rented and renovated a building. It has a classroom for just under 15 children, an additional room and toilets. The cooking area is being newly built outside the building, and a playground is being prepared. We need further support for this – at the end of the article, you will find an opportunity to donate to Single Quarter.

The building was completed during the Namibian summer. Here we can see a few impressions of the work.

The large grounds on which the building stands are enclosed by a wall, and the entrance is guarded. This ensures that no unauthorised people can enter the premises and that the children have a protected space in which to play and learn.
The newly hired teacher Rautia Shikongo and cook Secilie Ekandjo have already been looking forward for several weeks to finally welcoming the children in April. In the photo above, we can see them together with Martin Schölling, a member of our National Coordinator Team.
We would be delighted to receive support for the new playground at the steps facility “Single Quarter” in Katutura. A total of 2.100 € is needed for this.
