[:de] Another highlight during my stay in Okakarara was the meeting with Chief Sam Kambazembi, the new Royal Highness, Supreme Chief of the traditional authorities. His father, the then Chief Kambazembi, and I had first met almost exactly 10 years ago. After I had presented him with my visions and plans for steps for children, he asked me to establish the first steps project

[:de] This school year, students in the home economics vocational entry class at BBS II in Delmenhorst have been looking into the question of what food waste in Germany has to do with hunger in Africa. Through contact with an au pair girl from Cameroon, they learnt, among other things, that very few children in Cameroon go to school.

[:en] During my tour through Namibia to the various steps projects, it was a particular pleasure to see the vegetable garden in Okakarara. Thanks to our advisor Gal Sirten and his foreman Paulus Marunga, but also especially thanks to the efforts of the five women from the community who work in the garden every day and grow the vegetables for their own income and the

[Birgit Eckert, teacher of the little „Tigers“ at the Himmelblau daycare centre in Hamburg-Volksdorf, supported our project in Okakarara as a volunteer in March/April. Together with Sabine Bohlen-Roß from Hamburg, she was a valuable help not only in the kindergarten and preschool. „It was an overwhelming feeling for me to be able to visit the real Namibia for once.
