Finding a niche for happiness

A niche for happiness

Martha is one of our steps homes children. At the age of 14, she was only in the 2nd grade due to her lack of prior schooling and accordingly did not feel comfortable at all. Now she has left school and is an intern at our guesthouse in Gobabis. Here she feels comfortable, understood and does a great job. Together with Jackie, she looks after the guests and maintains the rooms and the forecourt. steps is also committed to appropriate future prospects – it is not necessarily required to obtain a high school diploma in order to build a future.

Regina from our steps homes in Gobabis is currently improving her high school diploma results at NAMCOL (Namibian College of Open Learning). She usually studies for it in the evening. During the day, she is a volunteer and, together with Sophia and Santiago, looks after the Schutzengel and steps homes children. She passes on her own experiences and is the link between the teachers and students. In the photo, we see her together with the other children from her steps homes family.
