Peter Wackel and Steps for Children
Peter Wackel was with the Reiner Meutsch Stiftung FLY & HELP on a discovery and charity tour in Namibia. There he also came across his new sponsored project: A new school building with 2 classrooms for afternoon lessons at ILENI TULIKWAFENI!
The German pop star and avowed Namibia fan Peter Wackel set off on a real discovery tour in January. While passing through, he spotted the partner project of steps for children in Okahandja by chance and visited it spontaneously. Together with FLY & HELP he is financing the construction of the new Peter Wackel school building with two classrooms for another 50 pupils from the Five Rand Settlement, one of the poorest areas in Namibia.
The following educational measures are planned for use of the building:
mornings: lessons for pre-school children from the community centre ILENI TULIKWAFENI
afternoons: homework support for pupils in the community centre ILENI TULIKWAFENI
evenings: further education courses for adults without a school leaving certificate from the informal settlement Five Rand
And not only the construction with storage room and sanitary block, but also the furnishing with school furniture is being financed by him. In the photo you can see Ulrike Mai, National Coordinator of steps for children in Namibia, together with Peter Wackel in Windhoek:
„Someone like me, who is able to live a privileged life, feels proud to be able to give something back through this project. I am pleased to support this project not only once, but also to come back many times.“

Dear Peter, the steps for children foundation thanks you and Reiner Meutsch Stiftung FLY & HELP on behalf of the steps children and young people as well as the entire steps team, a heartfelt thank you for your great support!
