[:en] A group of pupils from Eppendorf High School are spending their autumn holidays in a very admirable and unusual way: Together with teachers from the grammar school and board members of the Hege Helping Hands association, they have travelled to Gobabis in Namibia and are hammering, drilling, painting and sanding for all they're worth in temperatures of up to 50 degrees. [:en] A week ago Friday, a sports and games day was on the programme at the Gobabis project location. The barbecue was already prepared in the morning, the children were colourfully made up, the potatoes were cooked and 3 kilos of mayonnaise were waiting to be processed. For the eighth time today, on 15 October, is International Handwashing Day, launched by the World Health Organization (WHO). As many infectious diseases are transmitted via the hands, the WHO is urging people even more strongly today to make sure to wash their hands in particular before and after meals and after going to the toilet
